Building Permits

When Required:

  • New Construction: Erecting any new structure.
  • Structural Alterations: Modifying the size or structural integrity of an existing building.

Exceptions:

  • Installing siding, gutters, or shingles.
  • Excavating crawl spaces or basements, provided the exterior dimensions remain unchanged.
  • Pouring flat concrete surfaces without curbs or walls, not exceeding 8 inches above the existing grade.

Application Process:

  1. Obtain Application: Pick up a Building Permit Application at the Zoning Office located in City Hall, 119 S. Adams St.
  2. Submit Application: Complete and return the application to the Zoning Office.
