The cemeteries of Fulton County lie in silent testimony to those who made this county their home. Here you will find settlers, veterans, businessmen, farmers, husbands, wives, and cheildren, all contributors to the legacy of Spoon River Country. Gone but not forgotten, some were made famous by the writings of Edgar Lee masters that made Lewistown’s Oak Hill Cemetery world famous. Stone monuments adorned with art and symbolism, were erected by the living in loving remembrance of family, friends, and dedicated service to our country in times of war. Local cemeteries are also places to discover one’s roots. Genealogical resources compiled by the Fulton County Historical and Genealogical Society can be accessed at Parlin-Ingersoll Library in Canton. A self-guided tour brochure is available for Lewistown’s Oak Hill Cemetery.
