Lewistown Township Park District

The Lewistown Township Park District, established in 1970, is dedicated to providing and maintaining recreational spaces for the community of Lewistown, Illinois. The district oversees four parks, each offering unique amenities for residents and visitors to enjoy.

Alcohol is Prohibited in all Parks

Park Board Meetings

  • Schedule: Second Wednesday of each month at 6:30 p.m.
  • Location: 1203 N. Broadway St. (Higgins Building)
  • Note: Meeting cancellations will be posted accordingly.

Our Parks

Ratcliff Park

  • Location: W. Avenue E., near the wastewater treatment center.
  • Features:
    • Two quarter-mile asphalt walking/biking paths
    • Fitness stations
    • Pavilion
    • Restrooms
    • Open spaces suitable for picnics and recreational activities
  • History: Donated by Glen Ratcliff.

Ross Mansion Park

  • Location: Corner of Broadway St. and Milton Avenue.
  • Features:
    • Pickleball Court
    • Skate park area
    • Pavilion
    • Playground equipment
    • Basketball court
    • ADA swing​
  • History: Transferred from the City of Lewistown to the Park District.

Arnett Park

  • Location: Intersections of Madison St., W. Avenue F, Jefferson St., and W. Avenue E.
  • Features:
    • Playground equipment
    • Pavilion
    • Small bike path with jumps
    • Basketball court
    • ADA swing​
    • Open field area suitable for ball games and family activities
  • History: Transferred from the City of Lewistown to the Park District.

Higgins Field

  • Location: 1203 N. Broadway.
  • Features:
    • Two ball diamonds
    • Concession stand
    • Crow’s nest
    • Locker rooms and restrooms
    • Park District Building housing the office, community use area, kitchen, and restrooms
  • History: Named in honor of Harold Higgins, an original Park District Board member and community little league supporter.
