Water and Sewer Tap Applications may also be picked up in the Water Department Office located in City Hall at 119 S. Adams St.

Water Tap

For each water line, the property owner shall pay a tap-on fee of $100.00, plus the actual cost of materials for the installation of such tap. This cost excludes any street opening.

Street openings are one hundred dollars ($100.00) plus twenty-five dollars ($25.00) per square yard. In addition, sidewalk openings would be calculated in the cost of materials, if applicable.

The user shall be responsible for installation and maintenance of service lines between the city water main and the residence or business. Such service lines must be at least 3/4 inch in diameter, and must be installed at a minimum depth of three and one-half feet. Service lines must be at least 200 PSI Copper Tube Size Plastic (CTS) to the water mains.

Applicants outside city limits

If the applicant is requesting water service for property located outside the corporate boundaries of the City of Lewistown, the applicant must sign an Annexation Agreement if the property is contiguous to the corporate boundaries or a Pre-annexation Agreement if it is not. (Ordinance 2001-10).

The applicants will also be required to reimburse the City for all costs associated with the preparation and execution of such an Agreement, including, but not limited to, reasonable attorney’s fees for drafting the Agreement, newspaper publication fees, and recording fees.

All applicants requesting water service for property located outside the corporate boundaries of the City of Lewistown, whether contiguous or non-contiguous, must furnish a legible copy of the deed for such property containing an accurate legal description.

Sewer Tap

The price of a new Sewer Tap is seventy five dollars ($75.00). Plus a permit/inspection fee of five dollars ($5.00). The price for Sewer Taps is the total cost of materials and fees to make the Sewer Tap. This will include the application fee, Sewer Tap fee, corporation, materials and other expenses incurred.

Street openings are one hundred dollars ($100.00) plus twenty-five dollars ($25.00) per square yard. In addition, sidewalk openings would be calculated by the cost(s) of replacement materials for the area damaged.
